Rock on Laytonville, California! Kate-Bookers, I introduce the Kate Wolf Music Festival, taking place June 28 to 30).
Presenting an amazing lineup, the 2013 festival sneak-peak listing includes performances by Angelique Kidjo, Greg Brown, Iris DeMent, Paul Thorn, The Brothers Comatose, and John Prine. But that isn’t all. The Kate Wolf Music Festival offers workshops, jam sessions, a kid’s play zone, on-site camping, sing-alongs, yoga and tai chi!
No doubt — the four stages of music on 150 acres of land are the main attraction, but the extras add an element of whimsy and community spirit that makes this event uniquely entertaining.
The event is hosted at the beautiful and music-history rich Black Oak Ranch. The website gives insight into the history of this interesting place and the music legends that have graced its grounds:
It all started 24 years ago when Wavy Gravy asked Jerry Garcia if he would do a concert to raise funds to help with the mortgage payments at Black Oak Ranch. Jerry said if you can get Bill Graham to co-produce the show with you I’ll do it. So Wavy asked Bill and “Electric on the Eel” was born.
This festival is the first Kate-event find of 2013. While I hadn’t heard of this festival before, I have to say that I’m feeling like flying in June.
For all of you who might be wondering “Who is Kate Wolf?”, never fear, my lovely kitties. I’ll satisfy that curiosity next week. So stay tuned for more about this awesome festival and its namesake.
