As per usual, it looks like the Kates, Katies, Catherines, and Katys of the world have been mighty busy this week. Here, your weekly roundup of name-specific news.

  • Kathleen Turner has gotten rave reviews for her performance in the political play “Red Hot Patriot” this week. One reviewer called her “Bacall on steroids,” while another said her voice could “smite a filibuster.” [Washington PostDaily Kos]
  • Speaking of Turner, in an interview hyping her play, she said she was dismayed by Todd Akin’s insane comments about “legitimate rape” this week. [NBC News]

While the two have been close friends for years, reports say their friendship has soured in the wake of Holmes’ split from Cruise.   • Social scientist Catherine Hakim says in her new book, The New Rules: Internet Dating, Playfairs and Erotic Power that having an affair can strengthen a relationship.
