On Monday night, the new season of “Dancing with the Stars” kicked off on ABC. I was thoroughly prepared to root for Jaleel “Steve Urkel” White, but then I realized that there is a Kate in the mix. So I am hereby throwing my support behind Katherine Jenkins. And not just because of her name—homegirl was pretty darn awesome her first time out the gate on the show. So much so that judge Carrie Ann Inaba declared her foxtrot with partner Mark Ballas “the best first dance on the first episode ever.” Judge Bruno Tonioli added, “You’re setting the bar so high that really you have a lot to live up to.”
Which brings us to a very important question: who is Katherine Jenkins?
Jenkins is a Welsh mezzo-soprano opera singer. In the UK, she’s a very big deal.
