Katy Perry and Russell Brand may be close to finalizing their divorce, but their saga continues on. While it appeared that Perry was just having a Coachella fling with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd, the two are very much still dating, a source tells the British newspaper The Sun. The source adds that Perry recently gifted her new beau with a $35,000 guitar.
“She’s so smitten she’s bought Rob some very decent gifts,” the source claims. “He’s into his vintage guitars so she knew he’d be impressed by the Fender.”
Meanwhile, Brand made an appearance on the UK’s “The Graham Norton” show on Friday to promote his new flick, “Rock of Ages.” Of course, Norton asked about his split from Perry after just 14 months of marriage.
“My mum is here. She got upset when you dragged up my marriage. I saw her cry, Graham,” said Brand.

Katy Perry arrived at the Coachella music festival this weekend rocking a brand new hair color—a darker, richer, longer version of the blue hair she’s been sporting lately. Her hair stylist Rita Hazan tells Page Six, “Her new color is what I call purple velvet. It’s dark and rich. It’s very punk rock. I love creating colors for her because she always knows how to rock it.”
And rock it Perry did—while crowd-surfing to pal Rihanna’s set with DJ Calvin Harris, in fact. But while the press seems fine dubbing this color “purple,” I just have to point out that it looks closer to navy blue to me. Which interestingly, is the color Rihanna recently expressed interest in.
“Navy blue is my color right now,” Rihanna told People in March. “Not any blue, not the punk blue. I have yet to see the right one. It does not exist yet!”
Should Rihanna have a problem with Perry cramping her style, I’m guessing that the “Teenage Dream” singer won’t have trouble adjusting. Perry has literally had her hair every color of the rainbow. Here, Katy Perry in all her ROY G BIV glory.
Katy Perry looks thoroughly stunning in a new spread in the April issue of Teen Vogue magazine, shot by Sebastian Kim. And while she didn’t fess up to modeling her new blue-and-purple ponytail on Tink-a-tink-a-too the My Little Pony, she did talk a little bit about her fashion inspiration.
“I love Agyness Deyn, Chloë Sevigny, Daphne Guinness, Natalie Wood, Judy Jetson, and Wonder Woman,” explains Perry. “I’m still doing the pinup thing, but now when I do it, I want to be the pinup of the future, like Rachael in ‘Blade Runner’ … Mostly I just want to take chances and have fun and truly live. And sometimes that means wearing some ridiculous, cat-inspired outfit rather than whatever happens to be in this season.”
In the interview, Perry also explains how she feels about the level of fame she’s achieved.

The “Teenage Dream” pop star shared a while back that the inspiration for her blue hair was half Anna Wintour and half Kate Winslet in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” However it seems even more clear what Perry was going for with the gorgeous blue and purple ponytail she rocked at the 25th annual Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in Los Angeles this weekend. Duh, it’s Tink-a-tink-a-too, the My Little Pony.

In the past week, both Katy Perry and Kate Upton have rocked these new Christian Louboutin pumps, which have the word ‘sex’ written across the toe in Swarovski crystals. You know, because they’re subtle.
Perry wore the nude heels, which reportedly retail for $1300, to the Echo Music Awards in Berlin last week–perhaps a message to new beau Baptiste Giabiconi? Meanwhile, Upton wore them to the 2012 Jeffrey Fashion Cares event at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York on Monday night.
No, my question here isn’t who wore them best. My question is–do you think these shoes are cute or totally tacky? I gotta admit that I’m in the latter camp. Then again, nude-colored heels in general weird me out.

Katy Perry looks absolutely ridonculous in the April issue of Interview magazine. Don’t get me wrong — she’s always stunning — but take the cupcake bra off a girl, give her a heavy brow, and muss up her hair a bit and all of a sudden she is a goddess of the silver screen. As several others have noted, Perry appears to be channeling Elizabeth Taylor circa “Cleopatra” on the cover of the magazine. However, judging from the images inside (which you can see after the jump), there appears to be more of a flapper-era cabaret theme going on in this Mikael Jansson photo spread.
I was extra excited to see that Perry was interviewed by the amazing Kristen Wiig for the issue. Unfortunately, in that way that Interview interviews sometimes go, there’s an awful lot of not-that-interesting chitchat. I was, however, particularly into an observation Perry made about another star of yesteryear, Elvis.
Almost a month after first being spotted with blueberry hued hair, Katy Perry has explained her eccentric yet sleek dye choice. The star tells Women’s Wear Daily that her hair is the middle ground between two disparate inspirations—Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour’s sophisticated bob, and Kate Winslet’s haphazard mess of blue curls in the film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”
“I was trying to find a happy medium between crazy and mature,” explains Perry.
Alternate theory: Perry voiced Smurfette in last summer’s reboot of “The Smurfs,” and thus still has blue on the brain. That, or she found a way to externalize feeling blue over her split with Russell Brand.
Oh, how I love this Katy Perry ad for GHD‘s new blow dryer, shot by the amazing David LaChapelle. The image transforms Perry into a mermaid, complete with a sequined tail. While I do find the ad a touch confusing because Perry appears to be wearing a pinky-purple wig in it — and why would one need to wash and blowdry a wig? — I’m willing to overlook that logical flaw because of the gorgeousness of the image. (Another issue I’ll brush past: do mermaids need blowdryers if they live under the sea?) I also adore what Perry had to say to Marie Claire Australia about the pic: “It’s as if Lisa Frank had done ‘The Little Mermaid.’” Genius.
