Kate Walsh explains why she spent the night in jail

Kate Walsh let a little secret spill while appearing on the talk show “Rove LA” this weekend—that she has spent the night in jail. Why, you ask? Apparently, Walsh threw a cue ball through a mirror at a bar.

“I’m Irish-Italian,” said Walsh, explaining the incident. “Some things happened.”

As Walsh tells the story, right before she moved from Chicago to New York, she was playing pool with a friend at a bar when he got in a verbal tiff with a bartender. Walsh says that her cue ball toss happened “in slow motion.”

But the police did not take it easy on her.

“I was a little bit bullied. I had to ride in the back of a cop car with a repeated offender,” Walsh says. “She asked me if I had any warm clothes because she told me it was going to be very cold in prison.”

Apparently, this establishment had never had a bar fight before Walsh’s ball-throwing hijinx. [Seattle Post Intelligencer]

Kate Flashback: Kate Walsh checks into Seattle Grace Hospital

Kate Walsh, who plays neonatal surgeon Dr. Addison Montgomery Shepherd, has become a fan favorite over her years on “Grey’s Anatomy” and its spin-off, “Private Practice.” But when she first strolled into Seattle Grace Hospital in 2007, wearing a fur-collared coat and pearl earrings, she was an out-of-left field game-changer. Let’s take a moment to look back at the final moments of the season one “Grey’s Anatomy” finale when Walsh first appeared, sashaying over to Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd, and announcing, “Hi, I’m Addison Shepherd. And you must be the woman who’s been screwing my husband.” Walsh single-handedly turned “Grey’s Anatomy” must-see TV.

Kate Walsh done with “Private Practice”

Kate Walsh is reportedly shuttering the doors on her “Private Practice” at the end of 2012. While it’s highly unusual for the star of a primetime series to opt of said series before network execs have announced that the end is near, sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that Walsh is only committing to 13 episodes of the show, which was recently renewed for its sixth season. It’s unclear why Walsh would want out. Perhaps she’s anxious to get back to her comedic roots? Perhaps she’s ready to create new Boyfriend fragrances full time? Or perhaps after 7 years of playing Dr. Addison Montgomery Shepherd, she is simply ready to hang up her stethoscope?

Kate Walsh cried upon hearing that she was getting a baby … at least on TV

The best sign that it is going to be a good morning? When Kate Walsh appears on “Good Morning America.” The “Private Practice” star sat down for interview yesterday to talk about the last episode of her “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off in which, after years of wanting a baby, Dr. Addison Montgomery finally gets one. How you ask? Well, a teen mom at the hospital chooses her profile from a book as the one she would like to raise her daughter.

Walsh says that it was very emotional discovering that the character she’s been playing for years was finally becoming a mom.

“I literally got teary. I didn’t find out until the table read,” said Walsh. “It’s literally the last thing that happens in the episode. So, yeah it was really exciting.”

Cate Blanchett, Kate Walsh, and Kate Winslet form the Anti-Plastic Surgery League

Cate BlanchettCate Blanchett has revealed in a new interview that she is against two things when it comes to beauty—using one’s own urine as a cleanser and getting Botox or plastic surgery.

“There’s been a decade or so of people doing intervention with their face and their body. Now that we’re emerging from that people are seeing that long term it’s not so great,” Blanchett tells Fashionista.com. “I’m not sitting on a soapbox telling women what they should and shouldn’t do, but I know what works for me. I’d just be too frightened about what it means long term. If you have all that stuff done, in the end … you just see the work. It doesn’t fill me with admiration, it fills me with pity.”

Interestingly, she is far from the only Kate to declare themselves against cosmetic procedures recently.

Kate Walsh tells this month’s Shape Magazine that the idea of cosmetic procedures don’t sit well with her either.

“We live in a strange time when getting plastic surgery is as common as dyeing your hair,” said Walsh. “But in my profession, I need a malleable face. Everyone has her line in the sand. I draw mine at facials and laser treatments. If others want to go a step further, it’s their call.”

However, Walsh got far more outspoken while tweeting during the Oscars last month. “Dear Hollywood actresses, stop fucking up your faces, it’s looking like the bar scene in Star Wars,” she wrote.

In March, newsstands will boast two covers featuring famous Kates in their birthday suits. First, Kate Walsh of “Private Practice” stripped down for the cover of Shape magazine, saying “I was terrified, but I really wanted to do a naked cover.” Next, model-of-the-moment Kate Upton took her clothes off for a Marilyn Monroe-inspired cover for Muse magazine.

Not every celebrity out there has the cojones to take it all off for magazine spread. This got me thinking—do people named Kate especially enjoy doing nude photo shoots? Kate Walsh in Shape MagazineHow do I love thee, Kate Walsh? Let me the count ways. In the March issue of Shape Magazine, the “Private Practice” star reveals that not only does she keep her arms in shape by playing the drums—but that she is actually a natural blonde.

“I felt like an impostor before,” she says, of the auburn hair color she adopted to play Dr. Addison Montgomery Shepherd. “I’m stronger and sassier as a redhead. It’s much more me.”

Want to smell like Dom Pérignon and diamond grills? Well, I have the perfect fragrance for you — Kate Walsh‘s Billionaire Boyfriend.

Billionaire Boyfriend was released on Friday is the second in Walsh’s Boyfriend perfume line. The line is almost a take-down of the whole celebrity fragrance trend, except that you can actually buy the fragrances at both Sephora and on the Home Shopping Network. Apparently, Walsh plans to add a new fragrance to the line every Valentine’s Day.

The original Boyfriend fragrance was released last year and, as Walsh now explains, was inspired by a split with a significant other.
