Kate Upton brings iPhone to Samsung event, just as Samsung is ordered to pay Apple $1 billion in damages

Kate Upton brings iPhone to Samsung event

Last week, Kate Upton headed to an event for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 smart phone, which looks pretty appealing because you can write on the screen, Perez Hilton style. Upton put on sleek orange dress for the occasion and swept her hair into an undo but she forgot to attend to one important detail — the model was snapped with her iPhone at her side.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a huge deal as models and celebrities often attend events for products they don’t actually use. But this feels a little like adding insult to injury because Samsung just lost a major lawsuit to Apple. On Friday, a jury ruled that Samsung had willfully infringed on five of Apple’s patents, from its “pinch and zoom” capabilities to its one-fingered scrolling to its rectangular-with-curved-edges design. The Huffington Post reports that Samsung has been ordered to pay Apple $1.05 billion in damages and — if they continue to use these technologies — will have to pay Apple licensing fees in the future. Meanwhile, the jury dismissed Samsung’s $422 million countersuit that Apple had pilfered several of its patents, too.

In other words, Upton really should have left her iPhone at home.
