Alas, there was no Kate Bush in last night’s Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. But another Kate made up for the loss—Kate Moss. Appearing in person from behind a gigantic photo of herself, Moss stunned in a floor-length golden dress, her cheekbones catching the light just so. Moss stomped down a Union-Jack-turned-catwalk for a segment about the tie between music and fashion that has long existed in the UK.
But as Moss and fellow supermodel Naomi Campbell took to the catwalk, not everyone applauded. The Daily Mail reports that Twitter was abuzz that these two bad girls were being honored on the Olympic floor. Moss was caught on camera a few years back snorting cocaine, while Campbell has been accused of assault by cell phone multiple times.
Some choice Twitter quotes:
Piers Morgan wrote, “I suspect Kate Moss might fail her drugs test later.”
Meanwhile, Charles Arthur of the Guardian said, “Kate Moss! Who represents the Olympic ideals of not doing drugs, or smoking, and achieving lots. Work with me here.”
And another Twitter user said of Moss’ partner in crime, “Naomi Campbell: gold medal in phone throwing.”
What do you think—should these models have been part of the celebration?
