Kate Flashback: The “Kate & Leopold” director’s cut is available now. Why?

I’m afraid that Miramax has severely missed the mark in releasing the director’s cut of “Kate & Leopold” last week instead of, say, in 2001. Because the Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman romantic comedy—which involved time travel to and from the year 1876—has largely been forgotten in the annals of time. While I’m tempted to give the flick a pass for picking the best name ever for its heroine, unfortunately the titular Kate is cliche as cliche can be—the carer woman too busy for love, until a strapping time traveler crosses her path. Cue the Michelle Branch song.

What do you think—are you completely uninterested in this movie, or am I off the mark?
