“Like throwing up. No, I shouldn’t say that. No, I actually do feel like throwing up. I wish I could say, ‘Oh listen everybody! It’s that Celine Dion song!’ But I don’t. I just have to sit there, you know, kind of straight-faced with a massive internal eye roll.”
–Kate Winslet admits how she feels hearing Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic,” which is being re-released in 3D this month. Can’t say that I disagree, Kate. That song is truly grating. Such canned emotion. [MTV.com]
According to Deadline, with Kristen Wiig potentially leaving the show when her contract ends this summer, Lorne Michaels is hedging his bets and has started auditioning potential new cast members. Apparently, Michaels has already tested seven comedians, among them funny ladies Kate McKinnon, Jessica Joy, Lauren Lapkus, and Elaine Carroll. Deadline reports that McKinnon has the edge and may make her “SNL” debut as early as next weekend, as Sophia Vergara hosts.
That said, it’s not clear if Michaels has already given McKinnon the stamp of approval, or if he plans to test out others as well. But if she makes the cut, McKinnon would be “SNL”‘s 42nd female and second out lesbian player, as well as the show’s first Kate. One small step for “SNL,” one giant leap for Kate-kind.
So who is McKinnon? Good question.
This photo was sent to me today by my friend Aaron. Not only did he discover that there’s a Kate’s Pancake House in Carolina Beach, North Carolina, but they also apparently serve S’mores Pancakes, and I don’t know if anything has ever sounded as yummy as that. Also, I’m hoping because of the lack of comma on the signage that this is a healthy option. But that’s probably just wishful thinking.
Last week at the 2012 NME Awards, British dubstep singer Katy B won her first major award, picking up the trophy for Dancefloor Anthem for her song “Broken Record.” However, I am more partial to her track, “Katy on a Mission.” Which, I won’t lie, I first heard while shopping at Forever 21.
Yesterday was Kate Gosselin‘s birthday. Which means that it’s the perfect time to talk about her bank account, amiright?
Gosselin has certainly implied, since the end her TLC show “Kate Plus 8″ in September, that making ends meet for her ginormous family has been rough. The former nurse explained to People magazine why she opted not to go back into hospital work. “The scary reality is, 12-hour nursing shifts every day wouldn’t let me continue to provide well for eight kids, essentially on my own,” Gosselin said. “When you think about it that way, it gets really scary.”
Instead, Gosselin signed on to host a cruise and took a position blogging for the website CouponCabin.com about, of all topics, penny pinching.
However, now the site CelebrityNetWorth.com has taken issue with Gosselin crying poor house. The site alleges that Gosselin is worth $5 million.
Even though I’m not necessarily proud of it, I will admit I’ve been the other woman… More than once.
Come to think of it, I’ve been tempting guys since middle school. I’ll never forget the time the Seventh Grade Love of My Life walked the mile with me in gym class. Neither of us liked to run (we had so much in common) so I had his undivided attention for 15 whole minutes. It was magical. His seventh grade girlfriend was a soccer player. She ran the mile in 5 minutes. She proudly crossed the finish line but the sight of her boyfriend happily strolling around the track with me must have knocked the wind out of her. She came up to me at my locker after school to inform me, “Stay away from my man or you’ll be sorry.”
I should have been apologetic or remorseful; I was ecstatic. She was the hottest girl in school, she was the first girl in seventh grade to graduate from a training bra, and she’d gotten to second base with two boys. I heard one of them was an eighth grader… and she felt threatened by ME? Sweet validation for a flat-chested mildly awkward twelve year old who felt invisible to boys!
But like a crack addict, once I’d had a taste, I couldn’t stop.
Kate Winslet rocks the ‘Titanic 3D’ premiere, releases her book, and talks about that Necker Island fire
Kate Winslet has had a big week. First, she released her book, The Golden Hat: Talking Back to Autism, for which she got celebrities like George Clooney, Anna Wintour, Christina Aguilera, Demi Moore, Ellen Page, Javier Bardem, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Julianne Moore, Jude Law, Ben Stiller, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Meryl Streep, Peter Sarsgaard, and Ricky Gervais to pose with a hat to raise awareness of autism.
“Even I can’t believe it,” Winslet says to USA Today, flipping through the pages of the tome. “The truth is, I don’t really know these people. They’re not my friends. I am just like everyone else … I don’t really know that many famous people, that’s not my life … It really was a case of bribing people for phone numbers.”
Winslet no doubt got Kelly Ripa’s phone number after the two sat down for a chat on Monday during “Live! With Kelly.”
In the past week, both Katy Perry and Kate Upton have rocked these new Christian Louboutin pumps, which have the word ‘sex’ written across the toe in Swarovski crystals. You know, because they’re subtle.
Perry wore the nude heels, which reportedly retail for $1300, to the Echo Music Awards in Berlin last week–perhaps a message to new beau Baptiste Giabiconi? Meanwhile, Upton wore them to the 2012 Jeffrey Fashion Cares event at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York on Monday night.
No, my question here isn’t who wore them best. My question is–do you think these shoes are cute or totally tacky? I gotta admit that I’m in the latter camp. Then again, nude-colored heels in general weird me out.
Kate of the Week: Kaitlin Schuster, actress, director, and improv comedian who had a pet rat named Miracle Rainbow
There are so many fascinating Kates out there. And every week, Kate-book.com is resolving to introduce you to a new one. This week, I would like you to meet Kaitlin Anne Schuster of Park Slope, Brooklyn. Without further ado, 13 questions with Kate.
What do you do?
I act, I direct, I write, I make stuff up and people laugh at it.
How did you get started in your line of work?
Well. All the kids either did sports or school plays. I was never going to be an Olympic Athlete so singing and dancing was the obvious choice. Although, I’m a pretty miserable dancer. I work it to my advantage at parties now and it’s like “hey! i’m awkward! join the fun!” but you don’t really get that as a kid.
What’s something you wish people knew or understood better about what you do?
Everyone’s artistic career follows a different path. Success is completely individual and non-linear. So therefore, person whose kid I went to high school with, when I see you in the grocery store ’round X-MAS time, please stop asking me when you’re going to see me making out with Robert Pattinson on the silver screen. It’s offensive.
For those of you keeping score for Katherine Jenkins on “Dancing with the Stars,” she easily led the pack on last night’s episode. Here, her jive with partner Mark Ballas. Thoughts?
Angelina Jolie, like the rest of the world, is obsessed with Kate Middleton.
According to The Sun, Jolie is so taken with the Duchess of Cambridge that she has a framed pic of her and Prince William hanging in her chateau in Brignolle, France.
A mysterious “source” tells the paper, “Angelina’s fascinated by [Middleton] and says she has a wonderful aura. She loves her look and common touch and says she and William radiate kindness and sincerity.”
The Sun furthers that Middleton could be the subject of Jolie’s next film, now that the actress is coming down from the high of having written and directed “In the Land of Blood and Honey.” The source tells The Sun that Jolie and partner Brad Pitt are “even talking about a biopic on Kate.” Even though, you know, Lifetime already did that.
Apparently, this fascination is not just a one-way street.
